My Grandmother was a Webster from the Canal Boat people that worked on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Her Grandfather was born at Downholland in the 1840s and his younger brother Thomas worked here as a 13 year old farm servant in the 1861 Census. Thank you for these wonderful photographs that awaken memories of their world.
Thomas Webster (the 13 year old slave) is my is grandad's grandad.
