Where these apartments are now built once stood a Rope Manufacturing business called Manley Tow Ropes. I remember this whole area as a kid into my teens/early 20's as my parents were the licencees of the Eagle & Child public house in Leigh. Also went to Kingsleigh Methodist Primary School on the side of the canal the other side of the bridge.
