The area to the left of where this photo was taken was used as a coal storage area in the 1950s. The coal was tranferred from barges by hand using shovels and wheelbarrows.
The building in the background was Stylo Barratt Shoes Head office where i worked from about 1980 to 1983. The barge in the picture belonged to the Ziffs who owned the company.
