Walking again
Yay! The weather is getting better and the nights are getting lighter so we've started walking again.

This time we're doing other canals, and lots of them, hopefully.

We've just started the Bridgewater Canal and walked our first stretch today from Leigh to Worsley.

These other walks will be going onto a brand spanking new website. I'll post a link when its online.

As I was fishing at Dover Lock bridge last week some guys were installing marker signposts.
I dont think they were locals because I noticed after they had gone the post at Dover lock pointed back down the canal towards Wigan, forward towards Dover 6m ??? and over the road bridge (in the direction of Abram), towards Bamfurlong ???
Confused...? I think they were.

From Seattle we leave 6 May for 40 days of walking several different paths.

I just noticed the L&L Canal and am drawn to walk sections into Leeds for our 6 June microscope meeting.

Is it easy to find maps, guide books and B&B list for this walk en route?

Hope you find this before we go.

Thank you
Fred & Donna

Hi Fred & Donna, I recommend a book called "Collins Nicholson Waterways Guide 5 - North West & The Pennines".

ISBN: 0-00-721113-9

It contains maps, which side of the canal to walk, pubs etc. You can get it from Amazon or any good bookshop.

As for B&B's, I would google the areas in which you wish to stay in.

Hope you enjoy your visit and walks.

A group of us are planning 5 days on the canal at the beginning of October. Having bought various maps and Nicholson's guide book, the most useful information has been gleaned from your marvellous web site. We are starting from Silsden and have yet to decide whether to travel east or west. Any thoughts?

Hi David, you're joining the canal on a pleasant stretch. As for east or west? I would flip a coin! You'll enjoy it whichever way you go.
